Pugwash Magazine rallied together friends and an eclectic mix of local bands to create the event NEUROMANTICS at the Fat Fox in Southsea in May. The gig was in support of The Evelina Children’s Hospital, a charity close to the 2010/11 Editor of Pugwash Magazine, Emily Smith, whose cousin spent much of her short life at the hospital.

NEUROMANTICS was a great night of music which resonated with the chilled out acoustic contribution from Kei Reynolds and Yvonne McDonnell whose vocals were unique and spell binding, the innocent and raw talent of Hobo Sapphire, upbeat mood lifting folk pop from The Day of the Rabblement and the final mind blowing skatastic performance from Know One who had the whole place jumping and everyone quite frankly, going completely nuts!

Not only was NEUROMANTICS a fantastic night of live music organised by the new editor of Pugwash Magazine, Sam Brooks, the evening raised just over £200 for the chosen charity, The Evelina Children’s Hospital.

The money will go towards the support that the charity provides, which is anything from routine care and minor surgery to life saving treatment for over 100,000 children every year. Funds raised provide equipment, furnishings and toys for the hospital so that the very best care can be provided for young patients and their families.

Having had such a raging success with her first charity event NEUROMANTICS, Sam plans to arrange many more events for Pugwash Magazine who plan to concur the live music scene in 2011/2012 while supporting local charities.
